The topic of this week was the family. During the activities, we talked about our family members, as well as how we help our mother, father, brother or grandmother. We surprised our preschoolers with a special tale about our kindergarten being like a big family in which we turn to each other helpfully, kindly and affectionately.
We invited the kids to a fun activity that the whole family could take part in. We made a family hand picture in which it was possible to observe who has a bigger hand, how the colors mix and how the soap foam will be colored.
Our nannies gave us a wonderful recipe for elder syrup, as this treat is very popular in our kindergarten. But exercise couldn’t be left out of our week either. Our physiotherapist showed us a special and very easy to do ball tournament. Not only proper exercise but also proper nutrition is very important for our health. Our smiling nurse gave tips on how to smuggle healthy sweets into our diet.
The annual St Martin’s Day celebration was organized again for the fifth time by the Association for an Innovative Education and the Mikó Daycare. The Central Park of Cluj Napoca was lit by a multitude of lanters made by the children. The participants of the celebration had a chance to take part in the march with the lanters, grab some simple but delicious snacks and warm their hands with tea on this Novermber night. The event was made more interesting by the addition of a photo exhibition called Forms of generosity displayed at the Casino building.

It’s already spring, we are talking a lot about the changes in nature, but we want to learn more about plants and animals. This is the reason why on March 25 we were visited by the NECC (Nature Educational Community Center). The members of the group are biologist and ecologist committed to pedagogy. After a short discussion, the children had the opportunities to try a lot of interesting games and instruments, like magnifying glass or binocular.
At this activity-centered event the NECC, using the methods of experiential education, did create a friendly atmosphere, so the children would gain knowledge on amusing, distracting way about nature.
On March 23 we organized the traditional spring family trip. We climbed the “Árpád-pike.”
During our walk we collected numerous flowers, insects and acorn. The children climbed trees and we met with the grazing lambs too. In the fresh air everybody could relax and enjoy the sunshine.
On March 21, the World Puppetry Day, we were visited by a group of second year students from the Faculty of Theatre and Television and their teacher, Kisó Kata Palocsay.
This meeting was important for the children and the students too. We collected the puppets from every corner of the kindergarten and we played, sang and told stories together. We are thankful for the oppurtunity, and we are looking forward to similar meetings in the future.
On the occasion of the European Day of Speech and Language Therapy (March 6) the daily activities were organized around this topic.
In the nursery generally the most important target is raising body awareness and strengthening speech organs. The activities took this target in consideration.
In kindergarten groups the emphasis was on language and breathing exercises.
The title of this year`s first “School for Parents” was: The Education for a Healthy Lifestyle begins in family. The invited expert was Tibor Bóné, who has been studying the topic with passion and enthusiasm for years.
The main message of the event was that we need to search for our own ways, we need to find out what kind of diet is best for us. If we try to live a healthy lifestyle we are able to motivate other people. And we can be perfect/good role models for our children, too.
Winter with it’s bright snow and blushing faces has became everyones favourite season by this time of the year. As we enjoy it, it would be better to have a winter extension party then a spring coming one!
Children found the best way to slide on the snow in our yard. Even the sceptical ones decided to take their chances with the snow and started to tame their sliding equipments, with a little encouragment.
The life circle of the snow man shows different stages each day, thanks for the kids. And our neighbourns, the birds are not forgetten either, since homemade fineness is delivered to them daily. We love Winter!!!
