The theme of this year’s “Kindergarten Differently” week was “A Healthy Mind in a Healthy Body.” Throughout the week, the children had the opportunity to explore healthy living, the functioning of the human body, the joy of movement, and the world of natural remedies in a playful and experience-rich way. We concluded a meaningful, colorful, and exciting week filled with new discoveries every single day.
We began the week on Monday with a special visit from a dentist, who introduced the children to the world of dental care in a fun and child-friendly manner. We talked about proper tooth brushing, protecting our teeth, and how to take care of our smiles. We hope the useful advice shared during the visit will continue to be practiced at home as well.
On Tuesday, we were captivated by a unique puppet show. The special atmosphere of the performance impressed not only the children but the adults as well. The story and the creative presentation inspired many conversations and provided memorable experiences for everyone.
Wednesday was dedicated to movement and teamwork. We discovered how well we can exercise and play together in both small and larger groups while supporting one another. The children enthusiastically participated in various physical activities and experienced the joy of teamwork and cooperation.
On the same day, we also organized the “School for Parents” program, where parents learned practical and useful tips about proper dental hygiene and tooth care. We were delighted that families actively joined the activities of our special week.
On Thursday, we explored the world of scents and medicinal herbs. We smelled, recognized, and learned about different herbs and teas such as mint, calendula, sage, and yarrow. The children discovered how these plants are commonly used in natural healing and everyday nutrition.
One of the most exciting programs of the week was our visit to the Pharmacy Museum. We encountered many unusual and fascinating objects, including beaver glands, ginseng roots, scented cones, crab pearls, and other interesting historical medical tools and ingredients. Our guide and the museum interns helped the children understand and absorb as much information as possible. It was a truly engaging experience that sparked their curiosity and interest.
On Friday, Zoé and Lea’s father and his colleague introduced us to the wonderful world of chemistry. The children learned about the process of making solid soap, observed the transformations caused by heating and cooling, and enjoyed the intense scents of lemon and lavender. Everyone happily took home their own handmade soap. We especially enjoyed decorating them with crushed mint and calendula petals.
Since we all loved the scent of lavender, we also planted small lavender shoots together and surrounded them with spelt wheat grains. The children took great care of their little plants and are eagerly waiting for the first sprouts to appear.
At the end of this busy and joyful week, we still had time for a relaxing tea gathering on the terrace, outdoor playtime, and recalling our favorite memories together. Once again, our “Kindergarten Differently” week proved that learning, health education, and joyful experiences can go hand in hand — through play, happiness, and community spirit.
