Last week we went back in time and we talked about castles and palaces, old buildings. We tried to figure out how the people could heat, light, have fun, what music they were listening to in the past. After hearing, we sorted out the musicians’ instruments, tried to determine by hearing whether the core in the rattles was big or small, and even named them. We cut out pictures from old calendars, from which we tried to build our imaginary city. We cut, glued, tore, drawn, painted, with pencil, paint and chalk. The name of King Matthias soon came up, several kindergartener said that there is also a statue of King Matthias in the center, which they had seen before. We imagined what life might have been like in the time of King Matthias and listened to music that was typical of that age. In the yard we drew a map of where we were going to walk the next day as we set out to explore the city. We looked at the Tailors’ Bastion, looked for the portholes, found that it was built of stone and that its walls were very thick. In the wall of the church on Wolf Street, we examined the cannonballs, revived what we had learned last year about the fact that cities used to be surrounded by a wall, and we also looked at the remains of the wall surrounding Cluj-Napoca. We rested at the Matthias statue and after a while, pleasantly tired and hungry, we arrived at the kindergarten. We ended our week cheerfully, full of experiences!
