As the carnival season began, costumes appeared in our kindergarten, and cheerful carnival music filled the air. Every day, the children dressed up, invented role-playing games, and we incorporated carnival traditions into our activities. This was how we prepared for our family carnival celebration on February 1st, which, like in previous years, was held in the spacious hall of the Kalotavár restaurant in Magyarvista.
This year, we transformed into magical fairy tale heroes. Not only the children but also the teachers, parents, and even grandparents joined in. In the morning, we welcomed families with magical games, then together we crafted the “kiszebáb,” an essential symbol of winter banishment and carnival festivities. After that, the costume parade took place, followed by authentic folk musicians who played lively tunes for everyone to dance to. Before our communal lunch, we held a raffle where children contributed toys they no longer used.
Since we were blessed with wonderful, sunny weather, we took a relaxing walk around the village in the afternoon, which was a perfect conclusion to our carnival celebration.
We continue to chant our winter-banishing, spring-welcoming rhymes and songs loudly! We eagerly await spring and the perfect weather for outdoor adventures!
